MPA Skills were very pleased to be asked to facilitate the PD session on Rules of Evidence and Principles of Assessment for the staff on 4 September, and everyone was happy with the activity of making candelabras from copper fittings.

CALLING ALL LICENSED ELECTRICIANS AND GASFITTERS WITH A NON-PLUMBING PATHWAY
Next 2-day course: 8 to 9 October 2019 (8am – 4pm) at Maylands Campus, 108 Caledonian Avenue, Maylands.
Who can obtain a restricted plumbing permit?
Only licensed electrical workers and licensed gasfitters are eligible to obtain a restricted plumbing permit. Applicants for a restricted plumbing permit will be required to satisfy the Plumbers Licensing Board (the Board) that he or she is a ‘fit and proper person’ to hold a restricted plumbing permit and have successfully completed the necessary training approved by the Board.
The holder of a restricted plumbing permit is authorised to disconnect, remove, install and reconnect:
- a compression union;
- a temperature/pressure relief valve;
- an expansion control valve,
in the course of removing or replacing a water heater.

The two programs on offer are:
- 52700WA Certificate II in Plumbing
- 52824WA Certificate II in Building and Construction (Pathway Trades) – Painting.

Recently the ATO released information to assist apprentices complete the annual taxation. The information explains the various aspects of an apprenticeship and what you may be eligible to claim.
NEW: TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION SERVICE
MPA Skills Plumbing & Painting Training & Apprentice Employment now offer training information sessions onsite, in the workplace or on a construction site, wherever it suits you.
Lakeside Plumbing & Gas in Joondalup were the first to use this new service recently, delivered at the company’s workplace.
These sessions are completely free of charge and plumbing or painting tradesmen can get advice on training and employment. Information is also available for specialist industry training.
Why not book a session to include in your site meeting, toolbox meeting or any other occasion!

2019 Student Outcomes Survey: Have your say about training
